You can target customers in your area. You don’t have to broadcast a message all over a huge city when you know that only a certain area of people are actually going to come to your area and go to restaurants. So, you have the ability now with things like Facebook literally to go in there for just pennies and target a certain given zip code and say, I would only like to show this message to people in this zip code, or in this certain area, or in this city. So your marketing dollars a well-spent, but even if you don’t have the money to spend on ads in Facebook or Google AdWords, you have plenty of freebies in terms of getting Facebook likes, communicating with your customers on Facebook, on Twitter, on Pinterest, on all of the social media platforms, but the most important thing is to remember that you are not advertising to them.
The reason that those companies use advertising mediums and blasted messages at their customers is that was a broadcast medium. It was not QA People fully expect that these new social media platforms are two way. You have to have a conversation and really try to understand that you’re not just talking at them.
