Is Mobile Marketing Important? Is mobile important? Well, I don’t know how to answer this other than absolutely, Mobile is important. Ask your customers do they have a mobile phone? Every one of them has a mobile phone. Just saw a statistic the other day that by the end of 2013 the cell phone penetration in the United States will be 11.
That means that every man, woman, and child in the United States has 11 phones. Now how can that happen you ask? It’s because a lot of people now have two phones. They have a business phone. They have a personal phone. They have a phone that they use just for their church, but a lot of people now are finding themselves with a couple of phones. It’s not unlikely that that’s going to happen, but that penetration means that everybody is tethered to one of these things. We’re never within, in fact I saw something I think, we’re never outside of about three feet of range on average of these devices and they are getting smarter and smarter every day.
This is an incredibly smart device. It has the capacity to give me messages in 100 different ways, so the two primary ways that you’re looking at using mobile devices right now in order to communicate with your customers are mobile applications and SMS text messaging. Of course, it’s still a platform for accessing Facebook and Twitter and all of the social media. So, clearly that’s one of the mechanisms that can be used and a huge one that can be used to access your messages that are on those platforms.
But is mobile important? Absolutely mobile is important If you have not invested in a text messaging campaign or a mobile applications, you better get on it because I guarantee you your competitors are scrambling to figure out how to get mobile and reach their customers where they are which is everywhere. It’s a ubiquitous device. It’s with them all the time.
